Assistant Cook for Camp Ledgewood
Compensation: $525 per week + room and board
Dates: June 9 to August 6, 2024
The Assistant Cook is responsible for preparing food for designated meals while helping with the day to day operation of the camp kitchen.
Major Accountabilities
Prepare food for designated meals
Supervise kitchen aids when needed
Assist with inventory control
Complete daily cleaning checklists for kitchen and dining hall areas
Assist Head Cook as needed
Prepare, with help from Kitchen Aides, all pack-out requests including nightly snacks
Participate in specified camp staff training
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and ensure that state and local health ordinances are met
Reports all incidents/accident to Head cook immediately
Maintains Girl Scout of the USA, Girl Scouts of North East Ohio and the American Camping Association standards at all times
As a member of Girl Scouts of the USA, ensure that diversity and pluralism is embraced and incorporated into work
Upholds the council Customer Service policy and strives to ensure that all GSNEO customers receive superior service.
Performs other duties as assigned to promote the successful implementation of GSNEO’s goals/objectives.
Responsible for the welfare, safety, and cleanliness of each individual and camper in unit. Follows and enforces all recommended health guidelines, including handwashing and cleaning/sanitizing as needed
Requirements
• Minimum age 18
• Successful record of experience in administrative or supervisory capacity (preferably in organized camp)
• Successful experience in food service
• Youth-oriented program background a plus
• Demonstrated ability to successfully handle conflict resolution at all levels with a variety of people, including external
customers
• Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain confidentiality
• Ability to communicate the written and spoken word with tact, diplomacy, and/or authority when necessary
• Well disciplined, able to meet deadlines
• Self-starter
• Able to work under pressure of many priorities and deadlines
