Job Summary
The City of Rockville has a new position for a Preschool Teacher. Note this position is budgeted for 30 hours/week. Works under the direct supervision of the Preschool Childcare Director. Assists with the daily operation of the preschool program. Plans and implements age-related activities for the participants. Is knowledgeable of State of Maryland Department of Education Office of Childcare licensing regulations and guidelines of this organization to work in a childcare environment.
*Hourly pay rate starting from $21.80 (a higher hourly rate can be considered for individuals that exceed minimum qualifications).
Essential Job Functions
Assisting with keeping all children and personal files current, based on CCA regulations
Actively participating with the children in the program
Being sensitive to the needs of each child.
Contributing to the planning of the daily calendar of activities
Reporting to the Director all unsafe conditions in the classroom and other areas utilized by the participants.
Handling disciplinary problems as they occur as outlined in the behavior management guidelines
Submitting requested paperwork to the Director by dates requested
Participates in scheduled team meetings
Submits timesheets to the Director for verification of actual hours worked prior to submitting the timesheet to the Recreation Programs Supervisor
Keeps all child care certifications current (includes C.E.U., first aid, CPR)
Knowledgeable of the MSDE Office of Child Care regulations and assists in making sure the program site is in compliance AND
Assists with all other responsibilities of the program, as needed (could include purchasing supplies, newsletters, meeting with parents/school administration, administrative paperwork, etc.)
Qualifications
Have received Senior Staff Qualifications by the State of Maryland Department of Education Office of Childcare OR
Be at least 20 years old.
Successfully completed 6 semester hours of coursework related to preschool children or 90 clock hours or their equivalent or approved training.
One year of work experience with preschool age children.
First Aid & CPR qualified (or willing to become certified).
Valid Drivers license in the State of Maryland (not required).
High School diploma or a GED.
Will be required to have a Medical Report Form completed by personal physician to verify employee is in good health and can work with children.
Will be fingerprinted by the City of Rockville.
