Lumentum currently has an opening for an Optical Test Engineer to develop test platforms and characterize and test very high speed electro-optical devices for both R&D use as well as for manufacturing. This position will be primarily responsible for test infrastructure development and design verification testing on novel electro-optic devices.
Our ideal candidate is ambitious, self-directed, independent, and adept in the lab. Of particular importance to us are the ability and desire to learn, and the drive to work very hard with similarly motivated people.
Key Responsibilities
Develop test method and setup for high speed electro-optical devices
Understand product specifications and create test plans for EVT.
Perform electro-optical device characterization, EVT , test data analysis, and failure analysis.
Develop automated test tools and lab environment for efficient and reliable data collection.
Support the adaptation of test stations from the design verification environment to high-volume manufacturing test platforms.
Close loop with RD team to achieve a better design
Key Qualifications
2 year+ industry / academic experience with component characterization.
Undergraduate degree in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
Experience with high-speed characterization tools/methods and optical testing.
Ability to analyze measurement data to extract key device performance features.
Experience with automation software languages (Python, VB.Net, Matlab, Labview or others)
Proficient working with large datasets and statistical analysis tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications
Graduate degree in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
Fluency with programming for test automation.
3+ years of experience with component test and evaluation.
Communication link testing including BER measurements.
Hands-on experience with coherent communication system and link testing.
