POSITION SUMMARY:
Assesses and treats patients with speech /language/swallow and/or neurological disorders. Performs appropriate Speech Therapy evaluations; designs and implements appropriate treatment plans based on the analysis and interpretation of evaluation results. Maintain proper documentation. Reports and records all appropriate data to patient’s records. Contributes to the development of staff education and orientation program. Responsible for personal and professional development. Current Texas License as a Speech Language Pathologist, and a Certificate of Clinical Competence.
Requires knowledge of general policies and procedures in Speech Therapy as well as advanced skills necessary to perform professional level Speech Therapy evaluation and treatment.
Work requires a professional level of knowledge acquired through the completion of an accredited Master’s degree program in Speech Language Pathology.
Technical, clerical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills relevant to patient care/area.
Basic computer knowledge.
The ability to use independent judgment in the planning and execution of Speech Therapy programs.
Leadership abilities in order to direct the activities of support staff.
Analytical and clinical skills, including knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, and Speech Therapy treatments, in order to evaluate patients’ communication, cognitive and swallow status, establish therapy goals, and observe, and document, the patients’ condition and progress.
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification is required.
Other certification requirements as defined by the certification policy. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
