Job Summary:
Responsible for all aspects of the operations and financials of the perioperative services departments to include the Operating Room, Same Day Surgery, Endoscopy, Pre-Admission Testing, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, Central Sterile Processing Department, and Anesthesia Services.
Essential Functions:
- Create and maintain a high quality, high throughput, perioperative services department with exceptional patient outcomes and high surgeon satisfaction.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and makes recommendations for growth and expansion as volume warrants.
- Instills an “ambulatory surgical center” mentality, driving quick turn arounds and optimized use of each operating room.
- For inpatient stays, ensures a smooth transition from recovery to admission, and works closely with inpatient nursing to continue a high touch, high-quality experience for patients once admitted.
- Evaluates perioperative personnel to ensure safe and effective practice, as well as delivering high quality exceptional experience for patients.
- Maintains regulatory compliance within departments.
- Makes recommendations for strategic growth and capital.
- Maintains a lead role in the growth and expansion of the department.
- Verifies that educational resources are available for perioperative services personnel and holds personnel accountable for compliance with established standards.
- Demonstrates effective communication, consultation, negotiation, and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team and other stakeholders.
- Collects and analyzes data related to quality and creates performance improvement projects to improve care delivery within the department and beyond.
- Interviews and selects high performing staff for each department.
- Ensures departmental compliance with organizational policies and procedures and regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information.
Minimum Education/Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Master’s degree in nursing preferred
• Current registered nurse licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification preferred
Minimum Work Experience:
Minimum of five years experience in perioperative services.

- In an office space, interacts daily with managers, all nursing and ancillary personnel.
- Will be covering alternate shifts as requested. Shift differential does not apply to day shift.
