SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Neurodiagnostic Technician is responsible for conducting patient testing including, but not limited to, EMG’s, electroencephalograms (EEG), nerve conduction studies, (NCS) and electronystagmograms (ENG). Responsibilities include maintaining timely completion of daily patient testing, accurate documentation of patient testing, and physical maintenance of clinical testing equipment.. The incumbent performs all assigned duties in strict compliance with established policies, procedures and protocols, and always works to ensure patient safety, comfort and privacy.
EDUCATION:
High school graduate or equivalency test.
Associate Degree from accredited school for Electroneuro diagnostic Technologists preferred but not required.
Spelling, basic knowledge of anatomy (muscles, nerves, vestibular system, visual system); average mathematical skills; basic knowledge of electronics and instrumentation.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years recent experience conducting Electroencephalograms required.
Recent experience in EMG and ENG in addition to EEG preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Descriptor 3: Broad Range of Administrative or Technical Skills.
Has broad, fairly detailed level of knowledge of Electroneuro diagnostics.
Gathers, organizes, verifies, composes and/or analyses data in the completion of several defined, multi-step diagnostic procedures.
Produces final output within established departmental standards.
Operates complicated diagnostic medical equipment.
Category I job classification – MH employees who have jobs with tasks that routinely involve exposure or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues and/or used sharps.
