Position description
University of California, Irvine, Department of Music Call for Applications for Classical Guitar Lecturer
The UCI Music Department is seeking a temporary instructor to teach individual lessons in classical guitar performance and a small guitar ensemble class during academic year 2024-25. The instructor will prepare and teach weekly 50-minute classical guitar lessons for approximately 3 undergraduate majors, may teach a guitar ensemble class for those 3 students including short quarterly performances, and participate in the department's entrance auditions process and quarterly juries. The position also involves mandatory online training required by the University.
Required qualifications: ? A Master’s degree in guitar performance or equivalent professional experience ? Experience teaching classical guitar individual lessons
Preferred qualifications: ? Evidence of successful teaching at the college or university level ? Experience working with diverse student populations and promoting inclusive excellence ? A record of creative accomplishments in the field ? Familiarity with current trends and innovations in guitar pedagogy
