An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Imprint Sales Director to join the Hachette Book Group Sales team to assist with maximizing sales for our growing Client division.
The successful candidate will serve as primary point of contact for our Client Publishers and will work alongside various Sales teams to help increase sales and maximize backlist opportunities throughout each season through collaboration, effective communication and constant market analysis. The planning and running of seasonal meetings for the Client groups is a key part of this role and will be critical to continued growth.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Analyzing sales reports for frontlist, backlist and reorder opportunities.
- Goal setting based on current marketplace and publisher expectations.
- Communication regarding breaking publicity with reps, Client publishers, and inventory.
- Ongoing sales and merchandising discussions with reps and Publishing.
- Working with inventory and Client Publishers to anticipate stock needs.
- Leading title discussions in meetings with staff, marketing departments, and salespeople based in NY and the Field.
- Assisting with planning agendas and running various meetings.
- Coordinating drop-ins with publisher, inventory, reps and operations.
- Review fact sheets and working with Clients to ensure books are positioned best to maximize sales
- Ensure that all sales assets and materials – covers, interiors, fact sheets, sell-sheets, - are available for Sales ahead of sales call deadlines
- Liaising between publisher and reps for material requests and other general questions.

- 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years prior sales and/or publishing management experience with a knowledge of account bases
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to thrive under pressure and effectively problem solve
- Ability to adapt quickly to changes
- Strong sales analysis, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Prior supervisory experience desired
- Understanding of entire publishing industry and process
- Avid reader who keeps up with trends and has an abiding interest in current events
- Solutions-focused when met with challenges and can comfortably adapt to changes

The compensation range for this position is $110,000-135,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
