Runs bi-weekly payroll and reports HSA, 401(K) withholdings, etc to funds administrator. Prepares and submits the bulk of the monthly accounting J - Es. Completes the bulk of the monthly account reconciliations. Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization. Assists with the preparation of the monthly balance sheet and income statements. Maintains the general ledger. Assists with the development and maintenance of key metrics. Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks. Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts. Provides assistance to the Bookkeeper as requested by the Accounting Manager. Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts. Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit. Files tax forms with federal and state agencies as needed. Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software. Manages the purchasing and invoicing system. Maintains fixed asset system and reporting. Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned. Employee will annually review the Corporate Responsibility Policy with the Controller to ensure departmental compliance with it. Make suggestions for revisions, additions, etc. Employee will have frequent short deadlines. Confidentiality is essential in this position, as well as strong communication skills. EDUCATION/ TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE/ LICENSE REQUIRED Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of general financial accounting, cost accounting, and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. Ability to correctly prepare tax reports. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software. Previous experience in a nonprofit desired, but not required. HOURS WORKED - Employee will work part-time, flexible (20) hours per week. By year end, the job will be a full-time position. NUMBER OF DAYS WORKED - May vary, depending on needs. OVERTIME HOURS - Generally, overtime hours are not scheduled; however, overtime may be required based on the needs of the company.
