Ongoing creative and managerial support for a Sony Pictures Television – Kids animated series. Including creative diagnostics, preparation of communications to internal and external animation teams, tracking of the implementation of episodic notes, and management of various directorial and or special project duties as directed by the Executive Producers.
Help the series Executive Producers execute and manage reviews and responses across the large content volume. This will encompass all phases of story development. Including the script, radio plays, animatics, layout, animation, and audio post, etc.
Main Responsibilities:
· Coordinate with the writing teams to ensure that draft versions of scripts are working within series limits and production assumptions
· Attend or audit voice records, as needed, or as requested by the EPs, to ensure constancy of character, and also to enable a single voice representing the production to be present when needed.
· In advance of storyboard handouts, review and approve first-cut radio plays, review alternate audio takes, and call for additional pick-up lines as needed. Then to present and review this product with the EPs.
· Participate in storyboard and design launch meetings with the animation studios
· As requested by the EPs, to review and prepare comprehensive story diagnostics on all stages of storyboard and animatic review. Written notes to cover staging, story, acting, and timing aspects of the work-in-progress films and suggest creative improvement as needed. This preliminary draft of notes will be reviewed, revised, and polished by the EP before sending on to either the client studio or the animation teams.
· Check incoming video edits against prior notes and script and identify issues for the EPs where fixes are insufficient or not complete.
· Assist, when needed, in transferring notes into the approved Excel format before sending them to the animation studio.
· Review incoming Layout reviews and compare them to locked animatics for creative correlation, and then prepare notes, responses, and approvals for the animation crews.
· Review preliminary animation, and as requested by the EPs, prepare preliminary notes on lip assignments, physics, and other animation performance issues.
· If requested, assist in generating episodic song briefs and assist the EPs in launching the episodic song composer on all original musical content for the series.
· Participate in all aspects of audio post-production creative management including preparing notes on advance direction for sound design teams, ADR, and mix preparation as requested by EP’s.
· Maintain direct, professional, and open communication with all major stakeholders including the broadcaster to process notes and secure all necessary approvals from the broadcaster and creators (when applicable) on the project.
· As requested, liaise with other producers to communicate key project activities and initiatives to ensure creative consistency in brand materials.
Skill/Experience Requirements:
· 5+ years of previous producing experience on a comparable show including the direct management of editorial/story departments
· Primary skills include excellent verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal and teamwork, problem-solving, time and project management
· Strong story diagnostic skills and the ability to articulate issues and problem-solve with a team
· Ability to lead projects from concept through execution
· Strong sense of editorial rhythm in both editorial/ narrative and sound/ music
The anticipated base salary for this position is $106,600 to $119,650. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
