JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES - Working under limited supervision of the work unit Lead, the incumbent must have a general knowledge of maintenance trades (i.e. electrical, structural, carpentry and/or plumbing assemblies) with high-level skills and knowledge of Electrical systems, to effect repairs of facilities, machinery, mechanical equipment, and other related subsystems. Work is performed in accordance with pertinent guides and regulations.
- Install, maintain, or repair any variety of electrical equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
- Examine blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
- Work standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
- Use of hand tools, measuring, and testing instruments specific to the electrical trade.
- May provide work direction and or instructs lower level maintenance workers as required.
- Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
WORKING CONDITIONS -- Work is generally performed outdoors but may be indoors in a shop or repair facility. The incumbent may be required to work under moderate noise conditions and under extreme weather conditions. This position may require travel to work sites at remote facilities. The work requires the ability to frequently stoop, stretch, and lift/carry up to 50 pounds or more for such purposes as retrieving and moving parts (anything heavier than 50 pounds requires two people or mechanical assistance).
RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION -- The incumbent applying for this position should possess an advanced skill set and knowledge related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a diverse range of electrical lines, conduit, service boxes, switches, and equipment utilized for the generation, distribution, or consumption of electric energy from both Generators and Shore Power sources. The individual in this role will leverage their expertise to examine mechanical equipment and diagnose any issues or malfunctions. Additionally, they will review blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose any electrical system or equipment-related issues. This requires a thorough understanding of electrical systems and interpreting complex technical documentation. The successful candidate must possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to effectively identify and communicate technical issues to other team members and provide work direction and safety instructions to fellow workers as required. The ideal candidate for this position should be adept at performing standard electrical computations, a crucial skill for determining the load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment. Furthermore, the candidate should be competent in preparing written specifications for significant repairs. This role also includes dismantling or partially dismantling subsystems and conducting repairs primarily using hand tools. The candidate should be capable of reassembling the subsystems and making all necessary adjustments to ensure normal operation. As part of the candidate's standard job responsibilities, they will be required to connect various electrical components such as motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to and from a power source. If any of the components are deemed defective, it will be incumbent upon the employee to replace them with items obtained from existing stock or through the submission of a purchase request to acquire the necessary replacement parts. The ideal candidate with electrical expertise is incumbent upon identifying and replacing defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring using standard hand tools and measuring and testing instruments specific to the electrical trade. The safety of individuals is of utmost importance in all aspects of this position. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical systems that comply with local, state, and national electrical codes. The ideal candidate should possess a comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the safe handling of electrical equipment.
Recommended certifications: OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety and Health, OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety and Health, and an NFPA 70E Electrical Safety certification, all of which are highly desirable.
REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE - High School Diploma or equivalent and completed training as part of a formal apprenticeship program. Incumbent must have five (5) years of directly related work experience with demonstrated proficiency in the Electrical base trade. Incumbent will have working knowledge of a second trade either through on the job training or continuing education. The incumbent must possess a working knowledge of the technical terminology and language structure related to a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment/systems supported by the work unit. The incumbent must have basic personal computer skills and knowledge of applications software and database usage sufficient to maintain records and files. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Position will require travel. The incumbent must possess a valid, state issued driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

SALARY
The expected pay range for this position is $78.187 to $83,200
