Under general direction, this position performs a variety of highly complex and professional engineering administration duties to support the Engineering Division and Public Works Department, including overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Engineering staff; planning, directing, and supervising a variety of engineering projects and programs; and to conceptualize, develop, design, and implement all phases of difficult design and engineering research projects; and performs other related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate possesses a diverse range of project management skills with a proven track record of designing and delivering various projects and administering consultant and construction contracts. The incumbent will also be someone who:
Performs high-level work and thrives in a fast-paced environment;
Has strong oral and written communication skills;
Coordinates, oversees, and reviews work of staff;
Establishes positive working relationships.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Education/Experience/Training
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field is required.
Three (3) years of responsible professional experience in civil engineering or a related field is required.
Public sector and supervisory experience or lead is highly desirable.
Licenses and Certifications
License or Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California or registration in another state and have the ability to become registered in California within six (6) months of appointment through reciprocity, is required.
Possession of a valid Class “C” California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
