Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking a part-time Newborn Hospitalist to join the Division of Neonatology, the largest division in the Department of Pediatrics.
Pediatric newborn hospitalist responsibilities include:
- providing professional physician clinical services in the delivery room and nursery
providing full spectrum newborn care
attending high risk deliveries and performing neonatal resuscitation
evaluating newborns with acute concerns in labor and delivery and the postpartum unit
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is one of the biggest labor and delivery facilities in the country, averaging between 6500 – 7000 births annually, and is advancing an ambitious vision for children’s healthcare thanks to the generosity of the Shapell Guerin Family Foundation and its president, Vera Guerin. Propelled by this historic $100 million gift, the largest lifetime gift in Cedars-Sinai 119-year history, Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s will fill a critical gap in care for young patients in Los Angeles and beyond. It will provide primary and specialty care for patients as they grow from newborns to adolescents to adults. Guerin Children’s is also going to build on Cedars-Sinai’s already robust care in pediatrics and labor and delivery.
In addition to current pediatric intensive care beds and neonatal intensive care beds, the hospital has renovated an inpatient space with 26 beds. Ophir Klein, MD, PhD, an internationally recognized innovator in pediatrics and genetics, has been named as the inaugural director of Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s, as well as the David and Meredith Kaplan Distinguished Chair in Children’s Health.
