The ideal candidate for the Research Data Coordinator position will have a Bachelor's degree, two years of experience in project/program coordination, clinical studies, patient navigation, or health education, and bilingual with English and Spanish. Will be required to travel locally.
KEY FUNCTIONS
1. Research Data Collection
Assumes responsibility for multiple assigned projects and will be central in implementing hereditary cancer outreach service programs to the underserved community.
Participates in registering patients using institutional databases and maintaining accurate patient records in RedCap database according to the institutional policies.
Responsible for working closely with internal and external collaborators including collaborating clinic personnel, community health workers, and genetic counselors in providing clinical genetics services.
Responsible for creating progress reports and other documentation, as required.
Responsible for attending meetings and present updates and data, as required.
Upon request, provides protocol data, evaluation, and associated reports to the Principal Investigator and or study team. Assist in preparing information and reports for manuscript/grant submission as required.
2. Clinical Coordination and Communication
Facilitate access to the outreach study. Work closely with institutional mobile mammography units and project VALET to increase patient participation in the study.
Might require traveling to external/remote clinic sites to train clinic staff, collect patient data and questionnaires.
Communicate with outside institutions and clinics for data collection and navigating patients through the clinical genetics aspects including education, risk assessment, genetic testing and counseling.
Obtain outside medical records (genetic testing/counseling, pedigrees, testing, etc.) to determine patient eligibility for the outreach program
Coordinate and track patients to ensure compliance with screening guidelines
Coordinate patient consultations and evaluations, imaging, laboratory evaluations, etc.
Assist with obtaining insurance authorization for studies, if needed
Responsible for patient education regarding the hereditary cancers and screening recommendations
Responsible as the outreach program contact and provide telephone number and e-mails
Bilingual, should be fluent in Spanish and English.
3. Other Duties as Assigned
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's degree in Health or Social Sciences, Psychology, or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Two years of experience in project/program coordination, clinical studies, patient navigation, or health education. May substitute additional experience for required education on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
