The University of Virginia Darden School of Business seeks a creative and energetic Assistant Director of Content to help its Communication & Marketing team tell the Darden story and grow the school’s audience across platforms and publications.
This position is located in-person in Charlottesville, VA with some flexibility for a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities:
Conduct interviews and draft news and feature articles.
Proofread the work of colleagues.
Publish articles and accompanying photos and art on Darden digital platforms.
Create content and post on social media accounts as needed.
Contribute to office efforts to attract positive media coverage by pitching news and news sources to media.
Contribute story ideas based on trends and story lines reflected in news media or across social media, etc.
Use tools to monitor metrics and engagement of Darden content and produce reports or identify trends.
Work with colleagues and external partners to coordinate and facilitate media interview opportunities for Darden faculty, researchers, administrators, and others.
Assist with maintaining Darden’s news presence on the School’s site, and ensuring it is up-to-date, fully functioning, and accurate.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Professional Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
Two or more years of experience as a journalist, public relations or communications specialist, or related job with an established news outlet, or organizational communications or public relations office required.
Demonstrated writing ability (examples of published articles, etc.).
Highly organized and driven with exceptional multi-tasking and communication skills.
Strong collaboration skills and a collegial spirit.
Commitment to accuracy.
