The Pasadena Department of Transportation is seeking an individual with parking enforcement experience to immediately fill one full-time Senior Parking Enforcement Representative position. The Parking Division operates and manages over 1,200 metered on-street spaces and T.O.D.P.E.K. parking meters throughout the City. The Senior Parking Enforcement Representative will assist with oversight of on-street parking, enforce applicable parking regulations by foot, bicycle or motor vehicle, and function as a lead to the Parking Enforcement Representatives.
The ideal candidateshould possessexcellent customer service skills, strong work ethic, and experience utilizing a vehicle to enforce parking ordinances. The individual shall have the ability to independently learn and apply Pasadena Municipal Codes (PMC) and California Vehicle Codes (CVC), work directly with the public, be flexible, and interface with other enforcement, police, and City personnel. The successful candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution skills to exercise a great deal of tact and diplomacy in handling highly confrontational situations on a regular basis.

Addresses citizen questions and complaints about municipal parking regulations, requirements, policies, citations, and citation appeal procedures.
Approves and processes overnight parking permits and other temporary parking exemptions.
Authorizes, coordinates, and conducts towing of improperly parked vehicles.
Identifies and reports hazardous driving or parking conditions.
Identifies vehicles that have been parked beyond the legal time limit.
Inspects parking conditions.
Occasionally directs traffic.
Patrols an assigned area including streets, alleys, and municipal parking lots.
Prepares brief reports describing unusual problems or incidents relating to parking or traffic control.
Provides information and gives directions to the public.
Provides lead responsibilities in directing and assigning parking enforcement representatives, including establishing work schedules and patrol area assignments, and completing attendance and performance reports.
Tracks, summarizes, and reports citation developments and trends, including the number, type and location of parking citations issued.
Works closely with contracted enforcement staff/contract manager.
Writes and issues notices of violations for vehicles parked in an unsafe or illegal manner for all parking time zones.

Qualification Guidelines
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent and at least two years' experience in parking enforcement with frequent direct contact with the public. Experience as a lead person over staff is desirable.
Desired Qualifications
Individuals who possess three (3) years or more of experience in parking or code enforcement; or related enforcement experience will be deemed most qualified.
Selection Process The selection process will consist of any combination of training and experience evaluation, a written examination, panel interview, and department-level interview.
Vacancy Process There is currently one vacancy in the Parking Division of the Department of Transportation. The resulting eligibility list from this recruitment may be used to fill this vacancy and similar vacancies in the future.

Special Requirements
Must possess a valid California Class C driver's license and comply with the City's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy during the course of employment.
At the time of appointment, candidates must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Class C California Driver License.
A Senior Parking Enforcement Representative must be available to work nights, evenings and/or weekends as assigned by the department.
