The Technology Calibration & test group is responsible for developing methodologies and instrumentations for calibration and validation of key hardware components across Apple’s products. The Camera team is looking for an expert calibration & instrumentation engineer who will be owning the effort of characterizing and qualifying new camera modules along with their integration into the system, to enable critical features and offer the best customer experience. As camera calibration & instrumentation engineer, you will work with system and design counterparts to:- Define the end-to-end error budget to deliver critical features and user experience, including the capability and uncertainty of each individual HW component.- Specify calibration and test requirements of camera/depth/IMU components on new Apple products. - Define performance metrics and spec limits. Evaluate the sensitivity of system performance metrics w.r.t. the accuracy of individual parameter. - Design and develop calibration and test metrology, validate, setup, both through simulation and lab/factory prototype.- Define specifications and tolerances of key components, qualify equipment vendors to deliver those with established quality control process.- Design and develop new optical instruments, or leverage existing instruments for customized application, as well as artwork, image processing algorithms and calibration pipeline- Validate factory calibration results with lab verificationYOU WILL ALSO BE INVOLVED IN:- Failure mode and GRR analysis, design DOE to root cause performance issues and propose corrective actions- Optimization of the calibration and test method to meet MP efficiency goals
