Summary
The MIL Corporation is seeking a dedicated and experienced Staff Accountant (Accounting, Associate) to join our team supporting a Federal client. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in financial operations by performing internal audits, preparing and reconciling ledgers, and preparing financial statements. This role may also involve supervising Accounting Technicians to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of accounting processes. The position is contingent upon award.
This position currently requires an on-site schedule with the possibility for a hybrid telework arrangement. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.
Responsibilities
- Performing internal audits, preparing and reconciling ledgers, and preparing financial statements
- Managing subsidiary accounts and ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records
- Providing strategic guidance on managerial accounting issues to support decision-making
- Solving complex accounting and financial problems with attention to detail and accuracy
- Advising on income taxes and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
- Accounting for leases and analyzing the financial impact on the organization
- Analyzing financial reports to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Valuing inventories accurately and efficiently
- Supervising Accounting Technicians and providing guidance and support, as needed
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency
Travel
Up to 15% annually, as needed
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, and financial operations
- Federal financial management experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficient in Momentum-based accounting systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications
Prior or current experience executing such activities of this role with the DOJ, any of its components, or other law enforcement agencies
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; Master’s degree in business administration, finance, or accounting preferred
Clearance
Willingness to undergo a Public Trust background investigation.

Salary at MIL is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and contractual limitations. For this position, the projected compensation range is $89,207 - $133,811 per year.
