EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF JEFFERSON PROTECTION AND ANIMAL WELFARE SERVICE AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for coordinating animal shelter functions related to animal transports, behavioral assessments, adoption events, or other programs and outreach for JPAWS. Position is responsible for training staff, supervising staff, and performing daily administrative activities. Employees in this classification perform supervisory and administrative work. Ensures the adherence to policies and procedures by reviewing and monitoring supervisor reports, logs, complaints, paperwork, and reporting findings to the JPAWS Manager. Performs a variety of management duties to include assigning, instructing, and reviewing work of subordinate staff, monitoring work performance, maintaining standards through the effective coordination of activities, and handling various personnel issues; assists in interviewing, hiring, and training with input from director. Performs related work as required. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.
Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination
Current employment with Jefferson Parish and permanent civil service status as a JPAWS Care Attendant Coordinator.
