Position Summary: Manages the service desk to issue equipment and supplies to students and faculty for lab classes in ECE and ECET departments, maintains inventory of laboratory equipment, and performs routine maintenance to the stock room and to laboratories.
Essential Functions: 1. Service desk: The Lab Assistant is responsible for issuing equipment and supplies to students and faculty to be used in lab courses and taking them back once the classes are completed. Also responsible for maintaining the records, nowadays online, for the equipment and supplies that are used by individual lab courses and are signed out by students and faculty for research and senior design projects.
2. Inventory: The Lab Assistant is responsible for maintaining the online logs and records of laboratory equipment and supplies in the stock room, arranging them on to designated shelves in the stock room, accepting new equipment and meters, and making suggestions for the replenishment when needed.
3. Equipment Maintenance: The Lab Assistant is responsible for minor repair of various equipment, meters, and supplies. Also responsible for cleaning the equipment and meters and keeping the stockroom a safe and environmentally healthy working place. When necessary, this individual will help move equipment, supplies, cabinets, and tables in the laboratories. Additional Functions: Other duties as assigned. Prerequisite Qualifications: - Associate college degree or equivalent with minimum of 3 years of related experience. - At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
