Job Description
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
- Screening gynecological specimens required, non-gynecological specimens and fine needle aspirations, preferred.
- Sign out of negative GYN cases. Sending atypia and pertinent slides to the Pathologist.
- Labels and/or verify all Cytology stained slides, compares name, number of slides, clinical information, and gross description against the Cytology requisitions and/or computer screen.
- Maintains all records as per regulatory agencies requirements at Summit Health.
- Maintains CME log, Maintenance and Workload records.
- Maintain a consistent and reliable schedule.
- Participates in any other departmental activities as directed by the Laboratory Director and/or Cytology Supervisor.

Physical Job Requirements:
- Physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account

Education and Minimum Qualifications:
- Accredited Cytology School Degree required.
- CT ASCP required.
- NYS CT License required.
- 0-1 years of experience welcomed. 1-3+ years of experience, preferred.
- Knowledge of the ThinPrep pap system preferred.
- Familiar with Bethesda system for GYN Cytology reporting.
- Broad knowledge of medical terminology required.
- Ability to deal with confidential information with the utmost discretion. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with administration, peers and the public.
- Sufficient technical ability to be able to troubleshoot independently and knowledge to know when to ask for assistance.
Pay Range $53/hr to $57/hr
The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
