Position in this function is responsible for performing moderately complex and/or specialized patient-oriented procedures under the supervision of a clinician or Registered Nurse (RN) to ensure that patients receive appropriate care. Responsible for performing operational duties as required under the supervision of the site administrator or designee.
Primary Responsibilities:
Acts as a patient advocate in the coordination and delivery of quality patient care
Maintains patients' dignity by protecting patients' rights to privacy, confidentiality, and safety
Works as a team with all ancillary services to expedite and coordinate patient care
Directs patient to proper exam/treatment area and prepares patient for examinations and other procedures. Assists in the transportation of patient and patient flow
Obtains records and reports vital signs and any other pertinent patient information to the RN or clinician
Administers medication safely, accurately and in accordance with the state of California licensure
Performs various patient tests, and instructs patients on procedural preparations under the supervision of the clinician or RN
Maintains and cleans exam/treatment areas and medical equipment
Assist physician and patient with insurance authorizations by proper form initiation, correct CPT& ICD-10 coding, computer data entry, phone calls, interfacing professionally with HMO and Billing Office, faxes, and letters as relates and is appropriate
Notifies pharmacies of new prescriptions and authorizations of new refills as ordered by the clinician
Collects, labels, and transports various specimens to appropriate destinations
Maintains logs, records of medical procedures, and inventories of supplies
Answers telephone calls, taking messages, referring calls to the doctor or licensed nurse as appropriate
Performs additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse program
Current LVN licensure to practice in California
I.V. therapy and phlebotomy certification
Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA) or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross), PALS, and ACLS
1+ years of experience working as an LVN/LPN
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in Family Practice, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics
Bilingual- English/Spanish
