The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students.
In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment.

Job Summary
The Administrative Services Department is responsible for internal business within the Orange County Department of Education. The Facility Planning and Maintenance & Operations Department provides facility planning, project management, and maintenance/operations support for facilities owned and/or occupied by OCDE including Special Schools and Alternative Education located at over 76 sites throughout Orange County. OCDE participates in the State School Facilities Program which provides funding for acquisition of sites, construction of new school facilities, and modernization of existing facilities.
OCDE is currently seeking an energetic and detailed Assistant Manager, Facilities, Maintenance, and Operations. This position will organize, plan, schedule, and supervise the maintenance and operations activities for OCDE. As well as conduct, organize, plan, and schedule inspections; oversee day-to-day operations of OCDE's conference center; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies, and the general public.
The individual selected will:
• Assist in the organization, scheduling, and planning of facilities, maintenance, and operations services and activities involved in the inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and repair of OCDE buildings, facilities, grounds, and related equipment.
• Conduct, organize, plan, and schedule inspections for OCDE schools, Williams Inspections for school districts, and OCDE Board of Education Charter Schools Facilities Inspection Tool (FIT) Inspections.
• Participate in the planning, development, scheduling, and implementation of modernization projects; coordinate projects with outside contractors.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience: Any combination of education, training, and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way of obtaining the knowledge and abilities would be:
• Three (3) years of responsible facility maintenance and operations experience including at least one year of supervisory or management experience.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with administration, or related field.
