You will build services to handle billions of requests per day, while maintaining response latencies in the milliseconds and meeting strict SLA requirements. In this role you will be design new and rebuild existing solutions for the fast growing scale of the next generation of advertising services. Work with Principal engineers and have the opportunity to mentor and grow junior engineers. As a Software Development Engineer at Amazon, you will drive the technical direction of our offerings and solutions, working with many different technologies. You will design and code, troubleshoot and support. What you create is also what you own.

Key job responsibilities
You deliver working features spanning the full software lifecycle including working backwards from customers, software design, implementation, testing, and deployment, operations, and documentation. You demonstrate operational excellence in all of your work. You are active in operational support for your team, and ensure that the root causes of operational issues are identified and resolved. You dont settle for the status quo, and routinely identify and execute on opportunities to improve your teams operations. You are active in the code review process on your team, providing meaningful feedback to others, including those who are more senior.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
