Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Technical lead and mentor for traffic engineering staff in New York
Lead the development of multiple concurrent projects and tasks
Represent JMT in client meetings
Develop relationships with senior leadership in key client organizations
Coordinate with multi-disciplined teams. Manage schedule and budget for project tasks.
Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
Utilize various design software/tools (Synchro, HCS, and/or VISSIM) for traffic analysis for a variety of conditions to perform traffic modeling and analysis, including signal systems.
Prepare or lead the preparation of technical reports which include traffic impact, transportation planning and traffic safety. Work elements may include volume development calculations, crash evaluations/safety assessments and HSM analysis.
Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
Develop scope and fee for task proposals
Lead or assist in the development of marketing proposals
Attend meetings with clients
Assist with development of project schedule
Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality

Required Skills
Proficient in traffic modeling and analysis software
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Written and communication skills
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
10+ years’ experience in traffic engineering
Professional Engineer License
Preferred Experience
Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
Experience with PANYNJ, NYSDOT and NYCDOT
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasions where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.
