Job Description
EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics for League City provide immediate response to 911 calls and, as the first healthcare provider at the scene of emergency situations, evaluate these emergencies and provide medical care to the sick and injured. This is a safety sensitive and/or DOT position, where you will be required to participate in random drug testing at the city.

Provide citizens of League City and surrounding communities with emergency medical care and transportation to hospitals
Assist and coordinate with other emergency service agencies in MVAs, rescue operations, and other emergency situations
Documents all medical calls and medical treatment provided in ESO Solutions system
Receive technical and functional supervision from EMS Management Staff
Provides prehospital medical care during emergency situations to include Basic Life, Advanced Life, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support activities, up to current Texas State certification level
For certified Paramedics: administers intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral medications
Assess/evaluate patient condition, determines course of treatment, and performs advanced procedures if necessary
Continually monitor patient condition, changing course of treatment as needed
Communicate clearly and appropriately when utilizing the Department's communication equipment in emergency and non-emergency situations
Maintains equipment; checks and replaces damaged and used supplies; and cleans the fire station
Drive MICU units to scenes and/or transports patients to receiving facilities
Will work an 11 hour, 14 hour, or 24 hour shift or be held in overtime as it pertains to scheduling needs for unit coverage, that can include holidays and weekends
Performs related work as required
Acceptable emergency driving techniques
Ability to learn geography of response area
Must maintain ability to carry out standing orders under the medical director's discretion
Minimum Qualifications
For EMT and AEMT applicants: At least six (6) months of Emergency Medical Service 911-experience, preferred
Required Licenses or Certifications
Completion of Texas DSHS EMT or AEMT
Each individual must qualify and be re-certified prior to the end of their Texas certification period
Must maintain CE hours within current Texas DSHS guidelines
Valid Texas Driver's License
For Paramedic applicants:At least six (6) months of Emergency Medical Service 911-experience, preferred. Applicants will also be required to pass League City's Protocol written exam and oral scenario within three (3) months of date of hire and maintain authorization annually to work under this protocol while employed by the City.
Required Licenses or Certifications
Completion of TDHS EMT-P or LP
Each individual must qualify and be re-certified prior to the end of their Texas certification period.
Must maintain CE hours within current Texas DSHS guidelines
Valid Texas Driver's License
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification preferred
