The Benefits Manager will work as part of a dynamic Corporate Total Rewards team and provide comprehensive support for Crane’s US health, welfare, and retirement programs.This role, reporting to the Director, Benefits will support the health and wellness of our associates and work with HR business partners along with third party providers, ensuring outstanding customer support and efficient operations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide hands-on management and support of Crane’s US health and welfare and retiree medical plans
Vendor management, utilization, and customer service
Primary contact for day-to-day inquiries and work requests from health and welfare benefit administration vendors
Monitor file integrations and error reports
Issue management and resolution (including root cause analysis)
Process documentation
Manage day-to-day administration of Crane’s Retirement (401(k), pension plans and non-qualified plans), including responding to information request from vendors, monitoring demographics data integrity and file integrations, error reporting, funding reconciliation and payments, and performing ad-hoc plan and participant research in support of plan operations.
Respond to queries from HR business partners and associates with respect to plan provisions; coordinate with benefits, retirement, and payroll vendors to resolve escalated inquiries with focus on providing thorough and timely response / resolution.
Responsible for compliance-related activities and processes including annual 401(k) plan nondiscrimination testing, highly compensated employee management and demographics reviews, filing 5500 forms, PBGC filings and other regulatory agency requirements.
Maintain effective benefit communications by collaborating with Crane’s vendors to develop required notices and materials designed to support participant education; support preparation of materials and reports for delivery to Plan Committees and other leaders and stakeholders, develop and participate in presentations to HR business partners and associates.
Collaborate with internal and external partners (Legal, Accounting, Tax, vendors and consultants) in support of ongoing administration of plans and programs.
Work with internal and external audit to successfully deliver audit requirements.
US SharePoint site management for Benefits and HR policies.
Manage the company's tuition reimbursement program.
Develop and implement communication associated with health and welfare and retirement plan initiatives.
Support ad-hoc analysis and reporting requests from stakeholders and additional HR projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business or related field required.
5+ years of experience in benefits roles with progressive growth and practical experience administering or managing benefit programs.
Expertise and technical knowledge of broad-based 401(k), pension and health and welfare plans, including ERISA related laws, compliance with ACA, IRS, DOL, PBGC and other statutory requirements.
Quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and project management.
Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
Comfortable dealing with senior management, ERISA counsel, vendors, auditors, and consultants.
Experience managing benefit plan administration vendors.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have prioritization, planning and organization skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills required.
Proficient with HRIS systems, Excel and PowerPoint.
