Maintains and controls inventory and information technology documentation
Provides District Office and school sites with Information Technology Customer Service Support
Manages all maintenance contracts and support agreements made internally and externally
Assists the Director in the development and execution of the District's Education Technology Plan and the Information Technology Infrastructure Improvement Plans
Collaborates with the Director, to develop training and technology vision/ direction for all students, teachers and staff
Oversees daily department work system operations and support
Routinely confers with users to ensure high level of customer service and support.
Manages network (email, Windows NT, Active Directories, security, Network Operations Center, backups)
Coordinates and troubleshoots PBX, voicemail, phone support and deployment of Voice Over Internet Protocol/ converged networking project plans and maintenance.
Provides input to Education Technology Policy Documentation (security, network, standards, and protocols)
Creates/maintains a Network Operations Center (NOC) at the District office and centralizes all technology support functions
Implements Disaster Recovery Plan
Advises executive staff regularly of network/systems status and potential obstacles
Manages professional staff and serves as a lead worker to school site support technicians
Performs hardware repairs on desktops, servers, printers, and scanners
Implements and manages Microsoft Windows operating system
Implements and manages email servers, ethernet routers and Internet content management systems
Implements and manages telecommunications (T1, routers, RAS, WAN)
Implements and manages remote access (VPN)
Performs other related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems AND six (6) years experience in information technology which included two (2) years supervising or managing a staff of information technology professional level positions
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of Nortel experience and A+ Certification
Possession of a Microsoft Systems Certified Engineer certificate
Experience implementing a WAN for a school district, public or private sector medium to large organization
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and driving record sufficient to meet the District's insurance carrier's requirements are required.
Incumbent will be involved in field work which requires travel in personal vehicle to various sites.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Positions in this job classification are exempt, and work 12 months/year. The duration of the eligibility list is 6 months unless extended by the Executive Director of Classified Human Resources and the Personnel Commission.

Full-time employees are required to purchase medical health benefits. Half-time and less than half-time employees may participate on a voluntary basis. Health benefit costs are 100% employee paid through a pre-tax payroll deduction. Employees may opt out of health coverage upon presentation of proof of alternate coverage.
Dental coverage is mandatory for all employees working 20 hours per week, or more, regardless of outside coverage. Less than half-time employees may participate on a voluntary basis. The District contributes the full premium for "employee only". Any additional premium will be employee paid.
