Responsibilities
Possess knowledge and skills to Design distribution facilities in economical manner that meets customers' needs and conforms to UI's Distribution Design criteria, UI's Distribution Standards, UI policy and procedures, NESC, NEC, OSHA requirements, municipal codes and ordinances; may still be acquiring specialized level skills.
Provide technical support to customers, contractors, state, and municipal agencies. Prepare work requests and provide design estimates for internal and external customers, engineers, and government agencies.
Apply knowledge/skills to a range of simple to moderate activities within own area and respond to inquiries from others. Solve simple to moderate problems including new or unusual assignments related to their work.
Work with Project Manager and/or Customer to ensure project requirements are met with a viable field design per UI standards and industry codes. Understand stakeholder needs and identifies solutions to non-standard requests; prioritize and organize own work to meet agreed upon deadlines.
Gather customer requirements and prepare accurate project documents (e.g. work requests, drawings, material lists, service orders, construction agreements, PLP Agreements, billable orders, easement information, and responsibility memos). Act as customer advocate. Work with regular supervision/guidance. Accountable for individual results and impact on team and/or customer.
Prioritize and organizesown work to meet agreed upon deadlines.
Represent UI at meetings with state and municipal agents, customers, and Project Managers regarding service issues, project design options, costs and construction schedule. Assess workload and prioritize own schedule to meet deadlines. Contributes to achievement of team goals; promotes teamwork in others.
Provide support and assistance to others as required. Rubber glove training required to make height measurements into secondary voltages on poles and mid span wires.
Available for 24 hour coverage as required
Minimum Skills and Requirements
AS Degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline. This is a minimum requirement.
Ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) with all levels of management and nonmanagement employees.
Ability to effectively and accurately organize critical information that affects multiple constituencies. Ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, other Divisions, and organizations outside UI, including customers.?
Working knowledge of the PC including operation of office automation products (e.g., Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, work management system, etc.) is required.
