Job Duties and Qualifications
R&D Chemist with demonstrated proficiency in production chemicals for upstream and downstream oil and gas, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in flow assurance chemicals, including design and evaluation of antifoulants, paraffin, and asphaltene control.
Areas of expertise desired: • Laboratory evaluation, formulation, and development of chemical solutions for control of organic deposition for upstream and/or downstream oilfield applications. • Hands-on experience in laboratory evaluation using industry standard test methods is highly preferred. • Prior experience delivering technical presentations for internal and external customers and industry conferences. • Working knowledge of statistical analysis and Design of Experiments. • Strong background in organic and analytical chemistry. Key Job Duties & Responsibilities: • Develop and recommend appropriate chemical strategy to prevent and/or mitigate organic deposition for a range of upstream and downstream oilfield applications. • Assist in responding to tenders and support regional sales and business development as required. • Lead the formulation and development of new chemical additives and treatments to drive increases in performance and cost-effectiveness. • Lead the continuous improvement of laboratory testing procedures incorporating new state-of-the-art technologies. • Design testing strategy and analyze laboratory data using statistical analysis tools to streamline product formulation and development. • Work independently on solving complex technical issues and delivering technical recommendations to internal and external customers. General Responsibilities: • Safely and effectively performs advanced chemical research and development. • Applies the highest laboratory HSE standards and recognizes exceptions to normal chemical trends. • Leads the development of new technologies and products contributing to long-term technology and business vision. • Advances laboratory capabilities by developing new experimental designs and risk mitigation strategies. • Generates Intellectual Property for Halliburton and stays up to date with state-of-the-art technologies by reviewing patents and technical papers. • Provides technical expertise to meet internal and external customer needs and requirements. • Promotes and contributes to a cohesive team environment and effectively communicates with all levels of the organization. • Represents Halliburton in relevant professional societies. Qualifications: • Skills acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline. • Minimum requirements bachelor’s degree in chemistry/chemical engineering and 10 years of related experience. • Completion of a masters or doctoral degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering is highly preferred.
