Description
Hilltop Residential is seeking a highly motivated entry level Corporate Accountant who will have responsibility for property level accounting duties, prepare monthly financial reports for a portfolio of multifamily investment properties, and assist with other accounting/finance related duties as needed. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager and will work very closely with asset/property managers, lenders and other third parties.

Job Responsibilities
Oversees corporate level financials
Responsible for reviewing all corporate credit card transactions
Communicate effectively with Community Directors regarding accounting-related questions and property operations
Demonstrate the ability to see the big picture beyond the accounting functions of the property and learn/understand property operations
Prepare monthly financial statement analysis according to GAAP with variance reporting
Record monthly adjusting and accrual entries and reconcile general ledger accounts
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations noting any outstanding items for your manager
Review the monthly operational reports. Verify balances tie and that changes from prior month reports are reasonable (e.g. Current month move-in's or move-out's, rent steps, etc.) before signing-off on Property’s monthly close-out
Ensure timely payment of mortgages, property taxes, and insurance. Update schedules monthly and record needed journal entries
Additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required (or currently taking final classes required for degree completion)
Organized and detail oriented
Ability to communicate effectively
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel
This position is in-person and will office out of our Corporate Office located at 9651 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX.
