Role Summary:
The Reliability Specialist role will have a focus on the application, manufacture, repair installation and operation of Flowserve pumps and seals at targeted customers. In this position the Reliability Specialist will be challenged with regular activities to provide technical support and recommendations for repairs, upgrades, and replacement of equipment at customer facility to assist with day to day as well as long term operations. The Reliability Specialist is actively engaged in troubleshooting equipment and implementing solutions on-site at customer facilities in conjunction with providing technical support during implementation of solutions via the Flowserve Quick Response Centers in assigned region.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for identifying opportunities for pump upgrades, repairs, re-rates, and replacement opportunities
- Responsible for assisting the Customer and Flowserve team in recommendations, training and presentations to Customer personnel concerning reliability issues and opportunities for improvement
- Assist Customer in the review of equipment failures and recommended corrective actions
- Assist in the supervision of the repair and rebuild of pumps in both the Customer shop and Flowserve repair facilities
- Consult as necessary with installation, start up and equipment operation
- Complete a historical assessment of Bad Actor equipment failures including, data gathering, installation and operational review etc.
- Assist with tracking Key Performance Indicators for pump and seal failures
- Technical support to capital project group for all matters relating to centrifugal pumps
- Act as liaison between Nova site and Flowserve facilities associated with pump repairs, re-rates, and upgrades accordingly
- Facilitate recommendations for solutions associated with pump upgrades, rerates, and/or repairs commensurate with Flowserve offerings
- Facilitate repair work scopes and best practices associated with OEM and Non-OEM repairs
- Communicate the needs of customers to Flowserve and be the customers’ primary source of information regarding design, application, installation, operation, and maintenance of our centrifugal and liquid ring vacuum pumps, and mechanical seals.
- Act as liaison between Customer and Flowserve’s sales engineers, reliability engineers, customer service, and operations teams
- Complete projects requiring both hands-on and mathematical approaches such as failure analysis reports, product performance reports, and engineering analyses
- Evaluate reports and data to support recommendations for improvement, replacement, or repair of equipment
- Implement and administer the mechanical seal standardization and customer specification process
- Help organize and ensure monthly “Bad Actor” meetings to maintain visibility on equipment performance
- Provide technical guidance about successful installation and operation of our products, ensuring that standardized installation procedures are followed
- Maintain data regarding customer equipment and parts inventories, responding with appropriate actions regarding inventory reduction and consolidation
- Maintain data in engineering systems; process engineering change notices; submit corrective action reports; and maintain current, accurate, organized files
Requirements:
- Industry experience, specifically with mechanical seals and centrifugal pumps, will be considered in lieu of education
- 5+ years’ experience with mechanical seals, auxiliary systems, and centrifugal pumps
- Knowledge of the design, materials, and operational requirements of mechanical seals and rotating equipment, especially centrifugal pumps
- Understanding of the aftermarket service processes associated with pump upgrades, repair, and replacement
- Must have a strong customer focus and project a positive corporate image
- Must be a team player, able to problem-solve and work constructively with customers and co-workers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literate and savvy
- Must be a well-organized self-starter who can accomplish goals and objectives in a timely manner and without close supervision
- Local travel using personal vehicle
- Some physical activity required (e.g., light lifting, walking large customer sites, and ascending/descending ladders and staircases in multi-story facilities)
- This role will require the candidate to meet certain medical and physical requirements in order to perform duties at customer operating facilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree preferred
