JOB SUMMARY
The Riverside Transit Agency is recruiting for a "C" Mechanic position in the Maintenance Department. The "C" Mechanic will perform periodic and emergency maintenance procedures on all Agency vehicles assigned (cars, vans, trucks, and buses), including but not limited to inspections, repair of minor defects and failures, replacement of various vehicle components (application valves, brake lining, etc.).
Please be advised that this may involve assignment at either our Riverside or Hemet locations. Applicants must be available to work 7 days per week, including holidays and all shifts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential job duties include but not limited to:
Assist "A" and "B" Mechanics as necessary, operate Agency vehicles as necessary (non-revenue service);
Make minor road calls (brake adjustments, flasher or bulb replacements, etc.) as needed;
Maintain proper maintenance and inventory records;
Assist Servicers when necessary in the servicing of vehicles and the performing of other related tasks as required.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE Graduation from high school or its equivalent with at least 1 year of experience in maintaining either autos, buses or heavy equipment.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION Must possess a valid non-restricted California driver's license and be able to obtain a Class B license and medical certificate.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
A current valid non-restricted Class C Driver's License is required. Additionally, obtain an official DMV K4 printout from a branch of the DMV printout (issued not more than 30 days prior to date of application) must be provided with the application. The DMV K4 must be clear of suspensions for any reason within the past five (5) years and have no more than three (3) points within the past five (5) years, and no two (2) point violations.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Any bargaining unit employee who completes a minimum of classroom instruction consisting of three courses at an accredited college will meet minimum qualification requirements for promotion to “C” Mechanic.
