Typical Tasks
Provides business perspective while participating in enterprise architecture development process;
Provides strategic consultation to customers in developing business strategies and goals;
Creates and facilitates use of structured processes for investigating and developing new ideas for improved use of information technology;
Contributes to the development of enterprise technology strategies and roadmaps;
Collaborates with others to negotiate agreements and commitments between business stakeholders and IT;
Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with key stakeholders;
Maintains awareness of changes to business strategy, goals and processes to ensure requirements appropriately reflect the need of the enterprise;
Identifies and evaluates the benefits and risks associated with business decision alternatives;
Advises on options, cost/benefits, and risks associated with solutions and strategies;
Identifies industry trends and recommends business opportunities;
Conducts planning and strategy meetings to develop and prioritize initiatives in accordance with enterprise strategies and goals;
Monitors and evaluates technology initiatives for progress toward enterprise strategies;
Monitors, measures and reports on IT solutions and service performance;
Establishes and manages methodology to identify and report IT service values;
Collaborates with others to oversee the long-term IT project portfolio, governance, and change roadmap in line with enterprise strategies;
Establishes and maintains the Service Lifecycle Process (service strategy, service design, service performance, alignment with enterprise strategy, service retirement, etc.)
Provides input to the IT product/service demand forecast;
Communicates with stakeholders to ensure awareness of progress, risks, and results;
Represents enterprise needs, goals, strategies and priorities to IT;
Represents IT's needs, goals, strategies and priorities to the enterprise;
Directs the planning and training of BRM processes and procedures;
Mentors staff and provides input to performance reviews;
May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker, as required;
Performs other related duties.
Employment Standards
Sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate the possession and direct application of the following knowledge and abilities:
Training and Experience:
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or a related field,
And
Ten (10) years of IT experience in a business relationship management or business partnership role, executing strategic plans and/or project portfolios. Three (3) years of this experience must be at the level comparable to the County's Business Relationship Manager.
OR
Training and experience equivalent to the possession of a Bachelor's degree. Relevant analytical, administrative, lead, supervisory or management experience that includes interpreting rules and regulations, gathering data and formulating recommendations, and report writing can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis;
And
Twelve (12) years of IT experience in a business relationship management or business partnership role, executing strategic plans and/or project portfolios. Three (3) years of this experience must be at the level comparable to the County's Business Relationship Manager.
Special Requirements
Ability to travel to alternate locations in the course of work. If driving, possession of a valid California Driver's License prior to appointment and the ability to qualify for and maintain a County driver authorization.
ITIL Foundation certification.
