Mechanical Test Engineer - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Euclid, OH
Provide technical support in a team environment for the assembly and testing of electromechanical control drive systems as well as performing mechanical and electrical design and development.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and technical expertise throughout the Assembly & Test department.
- Troubleshoot issues and problem areas occurring during the assembly and testing of component assemblies.
- Design tooling and fixturing including the performance and review of structural and mechanical design analyses using computer software and standard engineering principles.
- Develop, write, and/or review detailed assembly/test procedures, test data analyses, test reports, and process routings, as well as document modifications and/or redesign of test setups.
- Participate in engineering design review activities.
- Interface with customers, engineers, and other functional departments in support of department objectives.
- Other engineering tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with some Electrical Engineering aptitude.
- Minimum one (1) semester/summer co-op/internship experience in a design or test environment preferred for entry level candidates; seeking candidates at all experience levels.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing per ANSI Y14.5.
- Experience working on team projects providing mechanical design solutions using CAD software (CREO preferred).
- Solid understanding of raw material properties and selection.
- Working knowledge of ASME, ANSI, ISO and other industry codes, standards, and regulations is preferred.
- Familiarity with designing for manufacturing and assembly.
- Ability to perform stress analysis (hand calculations and/or FEA)
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, thermal, and mechanical systems.
- Labview programming experience is beneficial.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude and proactive approach to identifying and solving complex problems while maintaining project schedules.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $62,000 and $97,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
