Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Collaborating with university, industry, and federal government scientists on research in quantum and cryogenic devices, advanced communication, sensing, and computer technologies.
Supporting one or more of the following research areas:
Modeling and Simulation: Research in modeling and simulation of quantum information systems and devices to gaining a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of various choices for realizing arrangements of quantum systems that provide advantage over classical alternatives for computation and sensing.
Solid State Quantum Information Systems: Research in solid state quantum information systems to understand the physics behind performance limits of current quantum devices and developing disruptive qubit materials, devices, and technologies for semiconductor and superconductor quantum computing.
Conducting laboratory research.
Executing scientific studies.
Basic Qualifications:
Nine (9) years of experience in Quantum related research and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or Physics; or Six (6) years of experience in Quantum related research and Master’s degree; or Four (4) years of experience in Quantum related research and a Ph.D
Knowledge and experience in the following:
Quantum information system hierarchy with emphasis on logical functionality (e.g., fault tolerant methods, sensor network design, quantum algorithm development in the circuit model paradigm, etc.
Physical constraints on quantum systems, including the impact of noise and other error sources;
Modeling and/or simulation to include software development, as well as the ability to leverage existing software, using languages such as Python and C++
Quantum characterization (e.g., randomized benchmarking, tomographic methods, etc.)
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
