Essential Functions:
Provide general supervision of employees during the shift and ensure that these positions carry out their duties amid numerous distractions. The Assistant Director is often called upon to answer questions, prevent or correct cashier errors, and straighten out problems that occur within the store, including technical and customer service-related tasks. Monitor the Bookstore email and respond professionally, maintaining high customer service standards. Typically, open and close the store, reconcile cash register drawers daily, and deposits to the cashiers office.
Helps to ensure the efficient management of purchasing and inventory by understanding ordering minimums, vendor return policies, textbook adoptions, identifying damaged or incorrectly shipped merchandise and shortages or overages in receiving, maintaining accurate on-hand quantities, enforcing clear organization of stock rooms as well as stocking a presentable sales floor.
Provide support, training, and supervision to employees regarding the current POS, textbook adoption process, and system. Training may involve multiple new employees in a single shift while ensuring uninterrupted store operation.
Perform the services of opening, closing, stocking, and cashier either independently or with the help of other employees. Due to student academic schedules, the Assistant Director may often have to handle all store operations or a pop up alone.
Participate in annual inventory, special weekend events, textbook support that includes procurement and distribution, and assistant in managing various programs throughout the year. Assists in MicroFridge ordering, coordination of delivery, and scheduling multiple times a year.
Processing online orders includes managing, picking merchandise, and preparing shipments to be sent to customers.

A valid Driver's Licence is required. Employees (operators) must have been in possession of a valid operator’s license for not less than three (3) years and the license must have been in good standing without interruption during that time period.
