Location: Morris County, NJ
We have an exciting opportunity for you! A not-for-profit family services company in Morris County, NJ, is seeking a behavior specialist who is responsible for program intakes and development of behavior plans and supporting staff to provide appropriate behavior support to individuals with I/DD. Behavior Specialists will oversee the behavioral needs of individuals with intellectual, developmental, and related disabilities in a residential and day program setting.
Job Responsibilities of a Behavior Specialist:
Oversees the behavior needs of individuals approaches in one or more designated programs, such as, Residential Services and Day Programs
Identifies target behavior, creates client centered behavior support plans, ensures proper implementation of behavior support plans & designs data collection
Researches interventions while ensuring best practice techniques
Conducts assessments, including functional and reinforcer assessments
Completes accurate and timely documentation of services
Works collaboratively to ensure effective service delivery
Attends and facilitates team meetings and trainings
Works with staff on screening potential program participants and assists staff in making appropriate program placements based on behavioral and other needs of the person.
Participates in weekly supervision requirements
Travel to multiple locations as required
Job Requirements:
At least one year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities & supervised exp. involving behavior assessment & development of BSP's
Bachelor's degree in applied behavioral analysis, psychology, special education, social work, public health counseling, or similar degree
Experience with writing behavior support plans for adults is preferred
