Position Description
The Director of Engineering, Field Integrity Services (FIS) is responsible for delivery of a portfolio of integrity-related projects assigned to the FIS Team.
Provide leadership to, and management of the 52 person FIS team (including 5 subordinate managers) based in various locations across the continental United States.
Drive the successful completion of assigned projects and work across the United States within cost and schedule constraints and with an adherence to DOT and FERC regulations, as well as Kinder Morgan standards.
This position plays a critical role in the monthly reporting and forecasting of project costs.
Regularly interacts with senior level internal customers from each business unit (Gas, Products, CO2, Terminals)
Reports directly to the Vice President of Pipeline Integrity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead professional and administrative personnel.
Develop and improve personnel, processes, standards, and procedures.
Implement the requirements of the Kinder Morgan Integrity Management Plans, as it relates to in-line inspection, direct assessments, and the associated remediation work.
Manage the performance of the FIS managers and the field engineers.
Direct, control and manage the portfolio of capital and expense type pipeline integrity projects.
Promote open and continuous communication between various customers, departments, and personnel.
Hold team members accountable for their performance in support of projects.
Lead special projects to streamline and simplify company processes and procedures.
Supervise the monthly forecasting efforts of the managers and field engineers to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Participate in the annual project selection and budgeting process.
Review and spot check estimates and forecasts generated by the team.
Actively recruit and fill open positions.
Required to carry a cell phone and respond as needed during working and non-working hours.
Set expectations, measure performance, and communicate/document appropriate feedback.
