What You'll Do
Work to ensure all steel is manufactured to CMC specifications and safely in a timely manner
Visually inspect furnace for problems (water leaks, refractory wear, etc)
To ensure slag foaming is appropriate
Adjust flux additions based on slag analysis to optimize slag chemistry
Work with personnel in the operation, monitoring, and performance of all melt shop equipment (caster, furnace, cranes, ladle furnace, etc.)
Communicate with fellow workers and supervisors about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
Trouble shoots work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others (pulpit operator, process manager, maintenance personnel, etc)
Responsible for controlling and replenishing the inventory of consumables needed on the operations floor
Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed
Fill in or assist supervisor in the performing of duties when requested and needed
Responsible for ensuring that all safety protocols are being followed, employees are attending their safety meetings, and proactive safety tools are being used (ie, PSM cards, no touch tools, etc)
Leading effective crew meetings at start of shift. Include any safety, quality or production communications applicable.
Execute shift rounds, supervisor will walk the shop and ensure employees are performing their tasks
What You'll Need
Minimum 5 years of Mill Experience
Strong computer skills required (good knowledge of Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Ability to read roll and guide drawings as necessary
Work which may include weekends and holidays
Data entry in SAP / QMOS
Ability to work with a budget for lowering cost (SAP)
Must be able to schedule work through work orders and/or delegation
Ability to work in extreme heat
Your Education
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
