Job Summary:
The Sr. Compliance Manager provides leadership and technical expertise for the planning, development, implementation and administration of the Company’s regulatory compliance programs. This position leads organizational compliance with Federal, State and local laws, rules, and regulations and communicates with government agencies. This position participates as a member of multi-disciplinary teams to create, review, and implement policies, procedures, and industry best practices and assist with and document compliance issues, analysis and risk mitigation efforts.
This position partners with leadership and subject matter experts to establish, expand, and edit company policies, procedures, standards, written programs, and training materials related to regulatory compliance. This position interacts with team members and stakeholders at all levels and provides comprehensive oversight of applicable local, state and federal programs related to regulatory compliance in the retail grocery industry.
Responsibilities:
- Manages and oversees regulatory and compliance programs for the Company, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations and company standards (e.g., Alcoholic Beverage Control, WIC/SNAP, Plastic Bag Ordinances, Weights & Measures compliance program, permits and licenses, USDA, FDA, ADA, Prop 65, PCI, CCPA/CPRA, MSB/AML programs, age-restricted products, Peripheral Component Interconnect, etc.)
- In collaboration with Government Affairs, review, interpret, research, and provide guidance regarding federal, state, and local laws and regulations that impact the Company’s activities and objectives
- Keep abreast of regulatory developments as well as evolving best practices in compliance control
- Policy and Program Management:
- Manages relevant policy and procedure development process, including frequent review to ensure compliance with regulatory changes/updates for the Company
- Manages restricted product compliance (research regarding regulations, communication with applicable agencies, creation or update of training, investigations, etc.)
- Develops improvements needed to existing compliance programs for retail, support, and distribution locations
- Oversees processing, and communicates with responsible company departments regarding, the handling of inspection reports, notices of violation, penalties, and corrective action/abatement, and annual reporting and certifications
- Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management
- Risk Management and Investigations:
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential compliance issues
- Implement corrective actions and mitigation strategies to address compliance risk
- Lead internal investigations into compliance violations and unethical conduct
- Manage incidents of non-compliance, including reporting to regulatory bodies as required
- Communication and Training:
- Interacts frequently with government agencies and industry groups
- Act as the point of contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors.
- Foster a culture of compliance and ethical behavior within the organization.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on compliance requirements and ethical standards
- Provide ongoing support and advice to staff on compliance-related issues
- Performs other duties as assigned
Hiring pay range: $104,768.00 - 117,874.00
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to the retail/grocery industry
- Strong knowledge of Governmental affairs
- Ability to accurately interpret laws, regulations, and ordinances
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with experience drafting company policies
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience in project management, multi-tasking, meeting tight deadlines and shifting work focus based on competing business and technical priorities
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel)
- Strong leader with excellent work ethic and the ability to balance all phases of leadership
- Proficiency in compliance software and tools preferred
Experience: 7 years related experience
Education: 4 year Bachelors degree and/or equivalent experience/training
Licenses/Certifications: Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) Preferred
Other Requirements: Up to 10% travel
