The US Transportation Accounting-East team seeks a motivated business analyst who has knowledge and experience in a regulated industry, and has the skills, competencies, and capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment. The team seeks a candidate who is keen on identifying opportunities for process optimization and adept at crafting comprehensive reports. The position is located in Houston, TX.
This analyst participates on a team dedicated to providing a seamless interaction with internal and external customers that is market-driven, revenue oriented and dedicated to providing maximum customer satisfaction. The analyst collaborates closely with various departments including Accounting, Measurement, Legal, Regulatory, Commercial Services, Marketing, and Contracts to guarantee data precision. The individual is also tasked with the critical function of developing and executing ad hoc reports and analyzing the resulting data, as well as report writing, ensuring clear and concise communication of data and insights.
Analyze customer transportation activity to promptly resolve billing disputes, maintain customer satisfaction, and reconcile reported transactions with source systems
Coordinate the timely preparation of transportation and storage invoices on a monthly basis
Provide valuable recommendations within established procedures to drive process improvements
Coordinate with Legal/Regulatory teams to compile and submit regulatory filings
Respond to audit inquiries and perform SOX Controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
Involved in system testing to ensure proper invoicing and accounting data.
Other tasks as required
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related discipline
Minimum four or more years of relevant experience
Knowledge of GAAP and FERC accounting rules and regulations
Intermediate to advanced experience and proficiency in business applications (Excel, including Lookup functions and pivot tables, Power BI, SharePoint, SQL Server)
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to develop effective solutions
Keen attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities, with a data driven mindset
Adept at managing multiple assignments with varying priorities and deadlines, demonstrating excellent time management skills
Ability to work independently, thrive in a team environment, and collaborate cross-functionally
Customer-centric approach, with a commitment to delivering exceptional service
In-depth knowledge of regulated gas transactional systems, demonstrating a strong understanding of the industry’s operational landscape
Proven systems thinker with strong analytical, process, and resolutions abilities
Proficiency in SAP or other financial accounting software, showcasing the ability to leverage technology for efficient financial management
