Office Assistant (Part-Time)

- Separate Promotional and Open (external) Eligibility Lists will be established.
- The Promotional Eligibility List will be comprised of current City employees (full or part- time) who meet the minimum qualifications and successfully complete any required selection processes.
- The Open Eligibility List will consist of external applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and successfully complete any required selection processes.
- The hiring department will consider the Promotional Eligibility List prior to considering candidates on the Open Eligibility List.

The Office Assistant answers incoming telephone calls and directs calls to proper staff; schedules meetings; provides clerical support on behalf of designated supervisory, managerial, or administrative positions; and acts as receptionist if assigned.

The Office Assistant is a part-time/temporary position, scheduled to work no more than 29 hours per week, and is not eligible to participate in the City's health insurance or retirement plans. The Office Assistant classification is a common classification used in a variety of City departments. This recruitment will result in an eligibility list for this classification to meet the future staffing needs of the departments with openings in this classification.
