POSITION GOAL: Assume responsibilities with regard to administering and monitoring the Child and Adult Care Program (CACFP), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), and Afterschool Snack Program (ASSP) ensuring compliance with USDA regulations. Coordinate Farm to School initiatives with the goal of educating and expanding student access to healthy foods.
Minimum Requirements: - Bachelors of Science in food service management or nutrition, Registered Dietitian or RD eligible preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in dietetics and/or food service management position desirable.
- ServSafe certified or willingness to obtain certification.
- Must be knowledgeable in the requirements of the USDA Child Nutrition Programs including the Summer Food Service Program and the Child Adult Care Food Program.
- Must have knowledge of proper kitchen equipment use and care.
- Expert knowledge of HACCP Procedures during food preparation and storage.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, administration and community members, to deal with unexpected stressful situations and to remain calm in emergencies.
- Excellent verbal, written, editing, analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to perform position duties independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to assume additional responsibilities and be flexible with work schedule.
- Possess cooperative attitude and ability to work collaboratively with students, building- level personnel, district administrators and co-workers.
- Willingness to complete professional development/continuing education, as applicable for job proficiency and to maintain professional certifications.
- Proficient in Technology: Microsoft Office Applications, Google Drive, Point of Sale and Menu Analysis software.
- Possesses a valid driver’s license, vehicle for transportation and the physical ability to perform the position responsibilities.
- Acceptable Criminal Background Report and no entries on Child Abuse Registry.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following information is intended to describe the overall nature of the work being performed in relation to the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.
- Plan, execute and evaluate all aspects of the following child nutrition programs: Summer Food Service Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, Afterschool Snack Program, Farm to School and School Garden Programs
- Work collaboratively with office specialists and managers to plan and provide in-service education and training for staff members
- Assist department dietitian with the integration of Farm to School and school garden produce into menus
- Work collaboratively with office specialists to update managerial materials including employee handbook and standard operating procedures
- Manages all Nutrition Services Catering Functions/Special Functions
- Plan and lead Department Equity work, including quarterly meetings and other initiatives
- Demonstrates knowledge of the Colonial Food Service Association contract
- Ensures that cost control measures are in place and maintained for programs
- Assists with updates to the Nutrition Services website as needed.
- Prepares and/or participates in department presentations.
- Participates in the District Wellness Committee and triennial assessment.
- Provides direction and technical support for POS, inventory and production software.
- Develop a professional and collaborative relationship with vendors and technicians that provide goods and services to the district.
- Ability to apply for grants appropriate for Nutrition Services
- Works collaboratively with office specialist for UD dietetic internship program and community nutrition students
- Shall perform other related duties and/or assume additional responsibilities as needed or assigned by the School Nutrition Supervisor.
