Job Summary
OCDE's Special Education Services Division is currently looking for a dynamic individual to serve as a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP). This professional is a multi-disciplinary team member responsible for assessing and working with special education students with communication disorders. Our SLP determines need for speech and language services, provides or directs therapeutic services as prescribed in students' Individual Education Plan (IEP), and provides case management activities to related to students' communication disorders. This individual will also provide in-service training programs for teachers and paraeducators, as well as parent workshops to support communication development in the home.
This is a 7 hour per day (35 hour per week) position and will require frequent travel to our special education class sites.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
• Master's degree or equivalent in speech-language pathology or closely related field from a regionally accredited school
• Valid California Credential authorizing Speech-Language Pathology services issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
• Meet the Basic Skills Requirement through one of the methods listed on Form CL-667 on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website: www.ctc.ca.gov
Preferred Experience:
• One year of recent, full-time equivalent, supervised experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist providing language, speech, and/or hearing services.
• Experience in a public school setting providing services to students with Moderate-to-Severe disabilities.
