Are you organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about community development? We’re looking for a Community Development Specialist to provide vital support to our Building and Planning Department. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to assist both professionals and the public in shaping the future of our city.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform clerical and technical tasks to support field and office operations.
Update and maintain maps, zoning records, and land use files.
Record and prepare minutes for meetings, and assist in preparing staff reports.
Collect and analyze data related to the city’s physical, social, and economic aspects.
Serve as the primary contact for building permit applications, guiding the public through the process.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in English and modern office procedures.
Ability to operate computer equipment and manage records effectively.
Knowledge of building construction terminology and local, state, and federal codes.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
Requires possession of International Code Council (ICC) Permit Technician Certificate within one year of appointment.
Two years of responsible secretarial and clerical experience.
Valid California Driver's License.
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialty training in planning or building is preferred.
