The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Engineer (Associate/Experienced) in one of our locations to include Herndon/Chantilly/Leesburg, VA; Mesa, AZ; or El Segundo/Seal Beach, CA.
This position will support the Advanced Mission Management (AMM) software engineering organization. The AMM organization executes software development across multiple program domain areas to deliver analytics, planning, scheduling, command & control, and mission management capabilities focused on ground user and mission needs. These software systems are integral to the daily execution of stakeholders’ missions helping to solve intelligence and DoD war fighter strategies.
The organization seeks a hardworking, motivated, and creative software developer to engineer new solutions and capabilities for agile software programs. This engineer will assist/lead development of software systems developed on cloud infrastructures following modern DevSecOps and Agile execution processes. The customer’s needs require state-of-the-art, software-intensive systems to efficiently and optimally task, plan, exploit, and disseminate data for hardware platforms (e.g. satellites, ground systems, etc.) for maximum stakeholder value.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate and Experienced level software engineers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with software design, coding and, unit/integration testing of customer desired features/user stories
- Involved with the development & modifications to new and existing software products
- Contribute to the creation of new distributed components and interactions that align with the future system architecture requirements
- Coordinate with peers, leadership, management, and product/customer stakeholders to successfully accomplish software tasking to meet roadmap acceptance criteria
- Help define, execute, and improve software development processes, procedures, and best practices to drive engineering efficiencies, high quality, and increased team productivity
This position hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
CI Poly required after the selected candidate has started employment.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
- 1+ years’ experience in object-oriented software development, design and software patterns, using C++ or Java
- 1+ years' experience in aerospace domain knowledge
- 1+ years' experience with Git or other DVCS
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing, using, and integrating performance models, equations, and simulators that define complex systems
- Background in astrodynamics, controls, telemetry, signals processing or a related field with experience developing and implementing models to that model (examples; EO/IR, RADAR, LIDAR, power, and/or related models).
- Applied experience implementing RESTful microservices, with a focus on scaling, decoupling, resilience, reusability of components.
- Experience with Interface Description Language (IDL) standards such as OpenAPI, AsyncAPI.
- Ability to assess and implement software architecture approaches to complex interactions between distributed services with a focus on concurrency and performance
- Solid foundation in concepts such as domain-driven-design and test-driven development (TDD)
- Familiarity with agile software development practices, processes, and tools (e.g. SAFe, JIRA, Confluence)
- Experience with DevSecOps practices such as continuous integration and development tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab Runners)
- Experience with one or more of the following: Java 17+, JavaScript, Firebug and JavaScript frameworks (React, Redux, Angular, etc.), Spring Boot, RDBMS, MongoDB, SOAP, REST,
- Experience using dependency management (Maven, Gradle)
- Experience using cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Typical Education/Experience Level 2 Associate:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
Typical Education/Experience Level 3 Experienced:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). Level 2 $85,000 - $123,050
Level 3 $104,550 - $151,800
