Position Summary
The Raw Materials and Formula Management Support Specialist will be responsible to manage projects related to all regulatory aspects of Raw Materials, including US FDA/FEMA/International guidelines and various international regulations. The individual will also gain SAP and S-DMS proficiency to oversee daily tasks such as New RM creation, SAP support and formula access. This is to be accomplished with the use of SAP, DMS, Symcom information systems and in coordination with the Regulatory Finished Product Compliance team, Business Support, Procurement, other relevant teams as well as the Raw Materials and Formula Management team in Symrise’s headquarters in Holzminden.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- To independently review new and existing raw materials from legal and technical standpoint. Some support is provided by management to interpret customer and government regulations. This function requires knowledge of technical aspects of Raw Materials and US FDA Food/Flavor & State Regulations. Specific documents include: Natural Certification, FDA Certification, FEMA-GRAS Certifications, Allergen , Food Grade Certifications, GMO Certification, BSE, Continuing Food Guarantee, Country of Origin Certifications, Customer Questionnaires, Nutritional, Organic, permissibility and other appropriate documents.
- To gain SAP/Symcom proficiency and support the Raw Materials and Formula Management department in daily tasks, such as new RM creation, formula access, formula revision and overrides
- Update procedures of Symrise’s continuous improvement process and work instructions as needed. Interface with Regulatory, Procurement, Production, Quality Control and Affiliates as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Food Science or other related discipline.
- 1 to 5 years of experience in the food or a similar manufacturing industry.
- Proficient in computer knowledge, including database management, spreadsheet creation, and internet navigation skills, and scientific/technical writing skills.
- Knowledge of Regulatory Affairs and/or technical experience with flavor, food, or similar product formulations.
- Must be skilled in analytical thinking and troubleshooting, very detail oriented, highly organized, and an independent worker.
- Maintain high quality work for Business Units and in consequence for our customers. This requires that all work meets on time service levels.
- Master the use of SAP Symcom/EH&S for Symrise.
- Must be a team player.
