Overview We are seeking a full-time Staff Security Architect. In this role, you will be responsible for applying systems and security architecture knowledge, tools, and principles to Garmin’s product development efforts, advising the development teams on threats and methods to develop and secure Garmin products and services. Essential Functions Support the design/security of products across the automotive segment with exemplary pragmatic judgement on threat likelihood, impact and remediation Develop/promote policy, processes, and guidelines which integrate security into product designs Stay abreast of new security technologies, determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and making pragmatic business relevant security recommendations, research information security standards, and lead data security strategy/technology roadmaps Partner with functional engineering teams to drive results through automotive segment leadership Understand current/emerging security threats, perform security review/threat analysis, conduct system security risk assessments, and advise how to mitigate threats where possible Act in an advisory role in secure product design, product development, and technology acquisition to assess security requirements and controls and to ensure that security controls are implemented as planned Promote reuse of components vetted for security Evaluate, recommend and leverage tools to improve security Provide security focused training/awareness Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree AND a minimum of 14 years relevant engineering experience Possess a minimum of 4 years relevant information security experience with working knowledge of cryptography, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), software security (AppSec), and hardware-based security controls Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrates ability to work well with others under challenging circumstances Must possess pragmatic business analysis skills and use them for threat prioritization Must possess detailed knowledge and experience with high level language structure in C, C++, C# and/or Java relevant to Garmin’s business needs Must possess knowledge of Garmin’s product lines and customers Desired Qualifications CISSP or CSSLP certification Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
