Responsibilities
The Resource Nurse (CN II or CN III) provides coverage for Neuro-related care. The Resource Nurse is an experienced RN who independently is responsible for assessing planning implementing and evaluating the nursing care of stroke patients. The nurses primary responsibility will be to respond to Code Strokes (Level I and Level II) and to facilitate care that is established in stroke policies. This nurse will work closely with professional members of the team to ensure timely care. They will work closely with the Stroke Coordinator/Neurology Medical Director/Manager of Neuroscience to assist in meeting program metric/data collection and educational requirements mandated by our certification. He/she will be by physician direction responsible for the reconstitution and delivering of TPA intravenously as a part of the neuro team. When not involved in neuro services the resource nurse will respond to emergent codes within the facility. These activities will include but not limited to - Code Blue Code Trauma Rapid Responses and assist in massive transfusion protocol. He/she will be responsible for assisting with the care and transport of critically-ill patients for tests and procedures assisting in the transport of patients between units in the event of a Code Throughput IV starts and phlebotomy. Transport of patients will include but not be limited to and from the ED ICU and Acute Care Units within the Medical Center. He/she will be accountable to the house supervisor throughout the shift to get direction for engaging in a variety of clinical settings including but not limited to the ICU ED Telemetry Medical Surgical Cath Lab and Radiology. Additional roles/responsibilities will include: He/she will share responsibility for weekend and holiday coverage.

PALS
CA Registered Nurse license
5 Years RN Experience
National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) preferred
